 From December 18th to 22nd, Liu Jun, the secretary of the party committee, led a delegation to the Greek universities for exchanges and visits. Heads of the Graduate School, the School of Basic Medical Sciences, the School of Public Health, and the School of Foreign Languages accompanied the visit.

 Liu Jun and his delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Greece, the Department of Greek Education and Religious Affairs, Harokopio University of Athens，Greece, the University of Athens , and the University of Peloponnese, and conducted a cooperation negotiation with the embassy, school representatives and staff in the concerned area.

 At the Chinese Embassy in Greece, Lai Bo, the minister-counsellor, received the delegation of our university and held a discussion. On behalf of the school, Liu Jun expressed his gratitude to the embassy for its long -term support for the school’s exchange and cooperation with colleges and universities in Greece. He briefly introduced the development history of the school, how the school operates, international cooperation, and the main purpose of this visit to Greece. He said that, hopefully, under the framework of the national China-Greek Civilization Mutual Learning Center, the China -Greece Medical Cooperation Alliance (Shandong) is to be established to better promote exchanges and cooperation between medical universities in Shandong Province and Greek universities. Lai Bo strongly agreed with the significance of the establishment of the China -Greece Medical Cooperation Alliance to promote the exchange and cooperation of China and Greece in medical education, and said that active support would be given.

 At Harokopio University of Athens，Greece,  the Vice President, Professor George D.V Dedousis, the Dean of the School of Public Health, Professor Manios, and former Dean Demous received our school delegation. The two parties summarized the achievements in international curriculum and teacher training project since the signing of the Sino -Greece Cooperation Agreement in 2022, and expressed their willingness and confidence to continue to strengthen cooperation and development. The two sides reached an agreement on the establishment of China-Greece Medical Cooperation Alliance (Shandong), held the ceremony of our school's overseas talent workstation and the appointment of the specially appointed professors. The Vice President, Professor Dedousis, congratulated our school's renamed Shandong Second Medical University.

 At the School of Public Health of Harokopio University of Athens，Greece, the delegation had a discussion with several professors of the college, and exchanged ideas about the starting points and details of the in-depth cooperation between the two parties. Subsequently, the delegation observed the on-site lectures of the school and visited the school's library and some teaching and research laboratories.

 At the University of Athens, the Vice-Rector Professor Chara Spiliopoulou received the delegation of our university and extended a warm welcome to the first visit of our university. Both sides introduced their respective Universities' basic situation, professional characteristics, discipline construction and international cooperation and exchanges，expressed the intention of follow-up in-depth cooperation, and reached a consensus on establishing the Sino-Greek Medical Cooperation Alliance (Shandong). Spiliopoulou congratulated our university on changing its name to Shandong Second Medical University.

 At the University of Peloponnese, Professor Athanasios Katsis, the Rector, and Professor Konstantinos Vassilakis, the Dean of the Faculty of Human Movement and Quality of Life Sciences, received our university delegation. Liu Jun and Katsis respectively introduced the development and planning of the two universities, exchanged views on some details of the memorandum of cooperation signed by the two sides in the early stage, conducted in-depth discussions on student visits, faculty exchanges, and reached an agreement on mutual credit recognition and joint training of bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs in health inspection and quarantine, preventive medicine, intelligent medical engineering and other majors. Athanasios Katsis expressed his great pleasure in participating in the Sino-Greek Medical Cooperation Alliance (Shandong). Our delegation was also invited to attend the graduation ceremony and visit the library and research laboratories of the campus.

At the Kavala campus of the University of Peloponnese, our delegation held discussions with the deans of the School of Agriculture and Food, Economics and Technology, Health Sciences and Engineering of the university. The two sides had in-depth discussions on student exchanges, joint training, teacher visits，international courses, and joint scientific research in fields of health inspection and quarantine, intelligent medical engineering, and food quality and safety，and reached a preliminary cooperation intention. Finally, the delegation visited the teaching and research laboratories of the campus.

During the visit, they held in-depth exchanges on deepening practical cooperation. Cooperation intentions and substantial results were achieved in joint training of doctoral, master’s and undergraduate students, teacher exchange and international scientific research cooperation. Our university will continue to strengthen practical cooperation with various universities in Greece, further promote the establishment of the China-Greece Medical Cooperation Alliance (Shandong), and make new and greater contributions to the in-depth cooperation and exchange of medical education between China and Greece as well as the mutual understanding of Chinese and Greek civilizations.
